Mayhem on the Mississippi II

Illowa Irregulars and the Milan Rifle Club submitted its application to host the SASS 2023 Illinois State Championship from August 18th through the 20th, 2023. While it’s not official until SASS says it is, your may want to mark your calendars and check back often. This is a match that you won’t want to miss. Registration forms coming soon.

3 days of cowboy action shooting fun with a couple of special activities thrown in for good measure, including another optional Saturday Evening Dinner Cruise aboard the Celebration Belle. Last year’s cruise was one for the ages. If you’ve not had a chance, scan through the video photo collage of our 2022 Championship which include photographs of the dinner cruise. Here’s your chance to ride the river with us again or do it for the first time if you missed it.

Illowa Irregulars cowboy town, affectionately named Camden Mills, is situated just a couple of miles from the Mississippi River in a heavily shaded and grassy area of the Milan Rifle Club. Dust? What dust? Just lots of lush trees and grassy lawns and berms.

Additionally, Camden Mills range features carports at every stage for additional cover from the sun and/or rain, covered loading and unloading tables at every stage, and a paved central walkway through the entire length of the range making it easy to move from stage to stage. Combine that with berms between every stage (which means shooters get back almost all of their brass at each stage) and you have a near ideal setup. if you’re unfamiliar with our range go to – www.illowairregulars.com and check out the videos listed in the right side menu.

The Quad City Area has more than enough hotels, restaurants, and other activities, located within just minutes of our range. There will be no issues finding reasonably priced nearby hotels with plenty of restaurants to choose from. Having said that, we anticipate naming a Host Hotel again.

If you are from Illinois, we are proud to host our second State Championship and hope you will consider attending. If you are from out of state and looking for a great match to attend, please consider adding the Illinois State Championship to your calendar. We are conveniently located near the junctions of Interstates 80 and 74, right along the Illinois/Iowa border. August is a great time in the upper Midwest. You won’t want to miss it.
