May 21 Match, Introductory Clinic, and Tuesday Practice Updates

After a cold, wet April, we’re hitting the ground running in May. This post reviews our plans for May in order of importance, but not in chronological order.

May 21st Monthly Match: Our regularly scheduled monthly match will be held on Sunday, May 21st. The range is greening up nicely and will be ready for you to give it a go. Registration opens at 8:00 a.m. with a 9:15 a.m. Safety meeting.

What will make this match a little unique is that we will set up the Record Stage and use it to establish our initial Club Records. I included a picture of the Record Stage in this post. Don’t be fooled – it’s deceptively simple.

Here’s your chance to be the very first person to hold the Illowa Irregular Club record in your category. But, you can’t hold it if you don’t shoot it. For Illinois residents, this will also be good opportunity to get some practice for your State Record attempt in August. If you can’t make it here to shoot and would like to practice the record stage before August, we’ve posted the setup parameters on our website. Feel free to download them and set it up at your club. May 13 Introductory Clinic: Illowa Irregulars are hosting an Introductory Clinic at 1:00 p.m., May 13. Feel free to come on out to attend, help out a bit, or simply watch. We’ll provide an opportunity to put a few rounds down range so if you have cowboy guns and ammo you might be able to get a stage or two of practice in after the clinic.

Tuesday Evening Practice: Our 3rd Tuesday evening practice will be held tomorrow, Tuesday, May 9th at 5:30 p.m. There is a small-bore practice going on over the 200-yd range so just pull to the stop sign and wait until they wave you through between sessions. 5 minutes at the most.

Friday Practices: Of course, we still hold our regularly scheduled 10:00 a.m. Friday practices each Friday.
