Updates: Illinois State Championship; Celebration Belle Dinner Cruise; Tuesday Evening Practice; Gravel Work

Four brief updates:

1. State Championship Registration Reminder: At the time of this post, the Illinois State Championship is a mere 38 days away. If you’ve yet to register, there’s still time. Click here for registration information.

2. Celebration Belle Dinner Cruise: We’ve 71 Cowboys/Cowgirls/Family Members signed up for the optional Saturday Evening Riverboat Dinner Cruise on the Mississippi River aboard the Celebration Belle so far. It’s shaping up to be a fun, cowboy-packed evening. If you’re not signed for the cruise yet, but would like to do so, call Susan at (309) 764-1952, ext. 204, and tell her you would like to reserve a spot on the August 19, 2023, dinner cruise as part of the Illowa Irregulars Cowboy Action Shooting Group.

3. Tuesday Practice: We are holding our 2nd Tuesday practice tomorrow evening, beginning at 5:30 p.m. All MRC members are welcome to attend. If you aren’t an MRC member but would like to attend, you can do so as a guest. Click here to email us if you would like to be someone’s guest and attend the practice.

4. Gravel Work – We are going to spread some new gravel around the range next week in preparation for the State Championship. We appreciate all t he help we can get.

Gravel Delivery:  Gravel will be delivered at 11:00 a.m. Monday, July 17.  I’ll be there to get it in the right spot.

1:00 p.m., Monday July 17:  We will begin working it at 1:00 p.m. that afternoon (the 17th) and get as much done as possible, particularly getting the gravel moved to where it is needed with the tractor.  We will start at Bay 9 which might take a few layers gravel placed, then compacted, then repeated, mostly because of the depth of gravel we will need.  I would also hope to get gravel moved to other places around the range (e.g., under a couple of the car ports, beside a couple of the bays, etc.).  The schedule has us stopping at 3:00 but we’ll see how we feel.  It’ll be important to get as much gravel moved as possible.

5:00 p.m., Monday July 17:  I don’t think we will have anyone to run the tractor.  Hopefully, we will have enough gravel moved that a different crew can get some areas smoothed and compacted during this time.  If we have someone to run that tractor this evening that’d be great.

1:00 p.m., Tuesday, July 18:  We will again start by moving any remaining gravel around the range with the tractor, with a few people need to do the smoothing and compacting.

9:00 a.m. Wednesday, July 19:  Hopefully, this will finish the job. We will smooth and compact any remaining areas.  Return compactor at Noon or so.
