2022 Illinois State Championship Results are Posted

The SASS 2022 Illinois State Championship Results are available on the Illowa Irregulars Scores page.  We had 150 shooters start the match.  While it was a little wet Friday morning for the first warm-up match, it cleared up in the afternoon for the second warm-up and remained dry the afternoon Side Matches and both days of the main match.

Congratulations to:

  • Matt Black and Turkey Legs for winning Overall Men’s and Ladies Shooters,
  • Billie the Avenger and Turkey Legs for taking top Illinois State honors by winning the 2022 SASS Men’s and Women’s Championships, respectively; and
  • Our 16 Clean Shooters: Matt Black, Billy the Avenger, Bailey Creek, Comstock Charlie, Capt. Jim Midnight, Wicker Nash, City Slicker, Sgt Hampton, Dangerous Dan McGrew, Fatboy Harley, Badlands Charlie, Rance, Sew Cantina, Kid Koo, Mar Sioux, and Lady Pearl.

Also, if I say so myself, the Saturday evening Celebration Belle Riverboat Dinner cruise was spectacular.  Great weather, great food, but most importantly, it was being with the 93 cowboys, cowgirls, and some family members, many of whom were dressed hilt in their cowboy/cowgirl finery.  Even the non-cowboys on the cruise were entertained having our fun group on the boat with them.

Thanks to everyone who attended, and hope you enjoyed the match.  I know I speak for every Illowa Irregular when I say we truly appreciate your having attending the match, and hope you will consider returning for future matches.

With that, I’ll call it a day.

Here’s FRU 2022’s second stage brought to you by Rootin Tootin. This one is titled “Another Shotgun Challenge.” The stage description reads:

“During Covid, RT found another shotgun target thinking project. He remembered that lefties always complain about shooting left to right so here’s one for them.”

2022 Territorial Governor’s Update

Count Sandor submitted his Territorial Governor’s Report at the January 16, 2022, Annual Cowboy Club meeting. The report included updates concerning recent changes to the SASS Shooter’s Handbook. The changes are summarized in the document below, but include the following points:

  • Defining “trigger bouncing” with a determination that it’s use in pocket pistol side matches is illegal;
  • The deletion of the terms Chief Range Officer, CRO, and CRO/TO;
  • The addition of malfunctioning/squib handling procedures; and,
  • Two newly approved firearm modifications.

See the TG report below for more information and a couple of explanatory images.

Celebrating Cowboy Action Shooting and Wishing You a Merry Christmas

Illowa Irregulars’ Cowboy Action Shooting Club wishes you and your family a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.

2021 was quite a year for Illowa Irregulars and Camden Mills, our Cowboy town, beginning with our first match in April through our last match in November.  The video below, comprised of images taken along the way, commemorates and celebrates Illowa Irregulars’ Cowboys and Cowgirls and, by extension, Cowboys and Cowgirls everywhere.

If you were a part of our Illowa Irregular family in 2021, perhaps you will recognize some of the people and scenes.  If you’ve never visited our club, please know you are welcome to do so anytime.
