Saturday, April 20 Setup: We’ll be heading out Saturday April 20 to set up for our Sunday, April 21 match. Setup begins at 9:00 a.m. Bring your work gloves.
Sunday, April 21 Match: The weather forecast as of today is calling for generally sunny skies, with temperatures of about 40 at Registration, 45 at match start time, and about 50 at its conclusion. All in all, pretty seasonal. It’ll be a great day for an early season match.
Stages: Badlands Charlie put together 6 interesting and fun stages for us this weekend. Click here or the download button below to download them.
April 2024 Stages
Lunch: The St. Jude’s ladies plan on being at the range to serve some food, chips, and soda to all the hungry cowboys and cowgirls. All proceeds go to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Illowa Irregulars purchased a new grill which will get its first use.
May Calendar: We’ve a couple of special May events for you to consider.
May Match- Special Joint Cowboy and NCOWS Match
As a special treat, we’ve invited our friends from NCOWS to join us Sunday, May 19th for our regular monthly May match where we’ll be offering:
- a traditional 6-stage cowboy match with targets set at our traditional 12′ pistol and 30′ rifle distancesand,
- However, if you’re shooting SASS-legal guns and want to shoot the 30’/60′ targets you may do so by signing up to shoot in the newly created Open Range category at registration. Cowboys shooting in the Open Range category will shoot all 6 stages but do so at the 30’/60′ targets. Open Range will be scored as its own category. Want a little extra challenge? Here it is.
- a 5-stage NCOWS-like match which will include 30′ pistol and 60′ rifle targets for our NCOWS guests. We’re also likely to use a couple of smaller than normal targets on those 60′ targets.
- We’re offering 2-gun, 3-gun, and 4-gun NCOWS categories for NCOWS shooters.
- Non-NCOWS shooters are encouraged to shoot this special match. However, you must comply with NCOWS gun requirements which are too complicated for me to describe here other than to say it’s a certainty that 98% of our SASS-legal guns don’t meet them. Email us if you need more information.
May Buffalo Shoot
As a reminder, we are holding our first Buffalo Shoot on Saturday May 18, the day before the Sunday cowboy match described above. For more information on the Buffalo Shoot click here. While not required, if you plan to shoot the Buffalo match, please consider registering in advance so we have some idea of how many people plan to come.
