We’re getting excited as the match date draws near for the 2026 Illinois State SASS Championship and Wild Bunch Matches.

Please note that there has been a change to the schedule of events. The original schedule inadvertently listed afternoon warm-up stages. While we will still hold the morning warm-ups, with the safety meeting at 8:45 a.m., we are unable to offer afternoon warm-ups as originally posted.

However, Stage 1 will be open while the range is open, and shooters may use that bay for practice, provided they do not shoot the State Championship scenario.

We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and appreciate your understanding. Even with this adjustment, we’re looking forward to providing everyone with a great match and plenty of cowboy fun!

Our intrepid work crew was back at it again. We erected the front posts and the rafters for Bay 5’s roof this morning. Charlie worked so hard he needed to rest against the post for a few minutes when we were done.

Thanks to Count Sandor, Cowboy Rick, Wicker Nash, Logsplitter Chris, Badlands Charlie, Popcorn Kelly, and Chancy Shot for helping.

The crew will be back at it next week, weather permitting, to finish the roof. 34 days and counting to the State Championships. No worries, it’ll be done by then!

Just kidding – everyone worked hard, and it could be the hardest working crew finally took a much-needed break. Not saying that’s what happened, but it could be the case. That’s my story and I’m sticking to it.

With the Illinois State SASS Cowboy & Wild Bunch Match date nearing quickly, it is close to the cutoff for buckle and award orders to be placed. To ensure that as many categories have the minimum requires shooters (sometimes just 1 is enough), we need to ask for entries by June 1st to allow for time to process our orders. We remain flexible and will allow entries up to side match day, so if you find yourself able to join us at the last minute, please do! Late entries may find themselves collapsed into an available category.

T-shirt orders will be accepted until June 29th. Prototype pictures will be available soon, so if you like them and did not order one, you may place your order until then.Match details may be found HERE

More exciting news about our Illinois State SASS match!

There will be 3 guns raffled off along with a Dillon 750 loading press.

· Ruger has donated a Model 1894 SBL Series lever action rifle in .357 Mag

· Buckeye Trooper has donated an Uberti Model 1858 Remington cap and ball pistol with holster and all the necessary accoutrements and accessories to make you a Black Powder Master!

· Cowboy Edge has generously donated one of their popular Taper Tools.

· A Dillon 750 loading press is up for grabs.

· There is a 1911 Springfield Armory Milspec in .45ACP on the table.

· Gift certificates from Starline, Bullets By Scarlett, Michigan Rattler, and Mernickle Custom Holsters along with Items from Midway, Eclectic Cowgirl, and others as we receive them.

· All shooters will receive a raffle ticket to place for the prize of their choice. Additional tickets will be available for purchase at registration.

There is a deadline of June 1st to ensure the best chance to fill your category, make sure we have a good count to order buckles and other awards, and to get our T-shirt order placed.

We had 34 people turn out for our cowboys match today. The day turned out to be beautiful for a match. Badlands Charlie was the Match Director. He created a fun match! We had 6 clean shooters.
